STATEMENT
The techniques and materials I use to create my art are the ones used by the old masters. My primary drawing tools are conté, charcoal and homemade walnut ink. All of my supports are sized with animal hide glue. When creating my art, I only work from life. I consider myself to be a realist artist, so I aim to truthfully represent what I see. My goal is to honor a subject by capturing a sense of its identity and feeling, be it a landscape, portrait or figure.
BIO
Caleb was born in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont in 1987. He attended a Waldorf School where he was immersed in the arts and his love for drawing, painting and sculpting was fostered. In high school he became a member of the Intaglio Society, where he learned the art of printmaking. He traveled to Italy on three separate occasions with the Intaglio Society to study at Il Bisonte, a printmaking studio in the heart of Florence. He is in his second year as a student at the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas in Asheville, North Carolina. He is studying landscape drawing and painting, artistic anatomy and figure drawing, portraiture and fresco. He was featured in the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas Winter newsletter.
