STATEMENT
The passion I have with our distant cousins transfers through oil paint onto the canvas and becomes emotional to me. As the being takes form, I feel it begins to take on its personality as though I am painting a friend. My hope is for its soul to expose itself to the viewer, its intelligence, curiosity, love and commitment. I hope that their lives help to enrich knowledge and awareness for their delicate survival before they are only known in history books.
BIO
Originally from Pennsylvania, I had my first hand with oil paint at an early age. In 1988, my family and I moved to Vermont where we spent many years studying and experiencing primates. Over the years I have been helping people in many countries about the care and behavior issues with monkeys. In discovering how little is known about these close relatives and how many of the great apes are close to extinction, I have reinstated working with oil with my main focus of my artwork of primates. With this, I hope to bring more awareness to our amazing cousins.
