STATEMENT
My work is an interpretation of the Tori Amos song, “Everybody Else’s Girl, Maybe One Day She’ll Be Her Own.” I paint solitary women, struggling with balancing their own desires with the expectations placed on them by society and the people around them.
I paint with water-soluble oils on canvas. I love the freedom that this medium gives me. I build up layers of paint, scrub and wash it off before it completely dries, and then reapply more paint. Sometimes I put the whole painting in the sink or bathtub; or outside in a summer rainstorm, and let the water add its magic to the work.
BIO
I studied art throughout school on Long Island, New York. About four years ago, I began painting again and it has become my passion.
I am an active member of Studio Place Arts, the Paine Mountain Arts Council and I am treasurer of the Art Resource Association. I curate the gallery at the Vermont Chocolatiers Chocolate Store and Shop in Northfield, Vermont. My work has been exhibited in juried group shows and in solo exhibits at Vermont businesses. A complete list is available upon request.
I am one of ten artists chosen in 2006 to design a street banner that currently hangs in Montpelier. My work was one of the Juror’s Selections at the 2006 South End Art Hop in Burlington. One of my pen and ink drawings was featured on the July 2007 cover of Art Map Burlington.
